Abstract
This Regional Act sets up the Regional protected area "Hanbury Botanic Gardens", in compliance with the legal framework laid down in Act No. 394 of 6 December 1991. The boundaries of the protected area are delineated by the planimetry attached to the Act, which includes the marine zone adjacent to the area. The protected area is inserted into the protected areas regional system for the achievement of the following purposes: (a) encouragement and development of research and scientific activities; (b) conservation of regional plant species, with particular regard to endangered species; (c) biological and geological protection of the sea adjacent to the Hanbury Botanic Gardens. The management is entrusted to the University of Genova on the basis of a special agreement (art. 3, par. 1). A Coordinating Committee shall contribute to the managing activities. The University of Genova, upon advice given by the Coordinating Committee, shall elaborate the plan referred to in article 4 and therefore transmit it to the Regional Council. Furthermore, a plan delineating the perimeter and zoning of the adjacent marine area shall be drawn up (art. 6, par. 1).
