Regional Act No. 60 on the protection and promotion of monumental trees and amending article 3 of Regional Act No. 49 of 11 April 1995

With a view to preserving the regional landscape and environmental heritage, the present Act makes provision in matter of monumental trees of a great natural and historical value. Article 2 lays down the definition of monumental tree. The Regional Register of Monumental Trees shall be established under the Regional Council. Article 3 regulates the procedure to be followed in order to register particular tree species in such Register. The felling of trees listed out in the Register shall be allowed only for public safety or phytosanitary requirements. In such cases, the felling shall be subject to the previous issuance of an authorization by the competent Commune (art. 6). Article 7 lays down penalties.
