Abstract
The present Regulation makes provision in matter of wildlife reproduction public and private centres as well as wildlife farming for nutritional, repopulation and ornamental purposes. The keeping and farming of wild animals belonging to the species that may be hunted as per article 17, paragraphs 1 and 3 of Regional Act No. 14 of 1994 is permitted upon previous granting of an authorization by the competent Province. Moreover, the above-mentioned public or private centres may be allowed to introduce and improve protected wild species. Nevertheless, the Regional Council and the Provinces may determine the suspension of the authorization for certain periods in order to protect particular endangered species. Administrative functions are entrusted to the Provinces by article 2, which concerns the application for obtaining the authorization too. Hunting is forbidden in centres intended for wildlife reproduction.
Part II of the Regulation is devoted particularly to public and private centres intended for wildlife reproduction, which may be established to farm and enhance the population of the species listed out in paragraph 2 of article 9 (such as hares, deers, roe deers and wild boars). Part III regards farming for nutritional purposes, that is for meat production; Part IV refers to farming for ornamental purposes of birds and mammals that may be hunted in conformity with article 18 of Act No. 157 of 1992); Part V regulates farming for repopulation purposes.
