Regional Urban Waste Management Plan (PRGRU) 2016.

The updated version of the Urban Waste Management Plan for Campania Region (PRGRU) was adopted by the Regional Council via Resolution No. 685 on 6 December 2016. Annexed to the PRGRU we have the following documents: Emergency Interventions Plan; Environmental Report; Plan Summary; Monitoring measures and Observations.
The objectives of the PRGRU are subdivided into objectives that apply to the entire Plan and specific objectives related to process of recycling and recovery of waste.
The objectives that apply to the entire plan follow: 1) Reduction of the production of urban waste through reduction of the production of organic and green, of paper and cardboard, unsorted, plastic, glass, textile, bulky, metal, wood, inert and WEEE waste; 2) Increase of waste separation rate at source for organic and green waste, paper and cardboard, unsorted, plastic, glass, textile, metal, greenery, wood, metals, WEEE, waste oils, bulky and hazardous waste; 3) Improve quality of waste separation to increase recycling performance for paper, metals, plastics, wood, glass and organic waste; 4) Increase of organic waste recovery capacity for the production of quality compost to favour the proximity principle; 5) Improve energy recovery rates; 6) Achieve self-sufficiency at regional level for disposal of unsorted municipal waste and non-hazardous waste deriving from their treatment.
The Plan identifies the following actions as proprieties to achieve the objectives of the Plan: preferential use of home collections; promotion of collection centers; the implementation of incentive systems for service users; the preparation of guidelines to standardize the collections on the territory; training and information for users; financing and construction of aerobic treatment plants for the organic fraction; identification of areas to be morphologically redeveloped in order to create disposal sites for the wet chopped fraction.
