Abstract
This Act sets forth provisions on the prohibition of importing the semen of any animal and the exemption in re-exporting conditions; seizure and detainment of illegally imported semen; inspection of premises and power of entry at all times; and offences and penalties. The Director may, with the approval of the Minister, make regulations generally for controlling the practice of artificial insemination. These regulations shall include provisions in the fields of the licensing of persons engaged in artificial insemination practices; the licensing of animals from which semen may be used for artificial insemination; prohibiting, restricting or controlling the importation of the semen of any animal; the examination for potency of the semen of any animal imported into this Island; the licensing of persons to collect semen from any licensed animal; the approval of the methods of collection, storage and transportation of the semen of any animal; the revocation of licences; and the punishment for any contravention or failure to comply with any regulations. An Artificial Insemination Advisory Board shall be established to advise the Director in relation to the exercise of the powers conferred by this Act.
