Abstract
Regulations to implement provisions of the Aquaculture, Inland and Marine Products and By-products Inspection, Licensing and Export) Act, and thereby further regulating the catch, production, farming, etc., processing, handling, and exportation of marine and aquaculture products.
The 162 regulations are divided into 18 Parts: Preliminary (I); Inspectors (II); Laboratories (III); Licensing of exporters, establishments and vessels (IV); Processing establishments - building facilities and location (V); Requirements for licensed vessels (VI); Harvesting and productions (VII); Maintenance Standard Systems (VIII); General product standards (IX); Chemicals (X); Packaging (XI); Transport (XII); Systems of inspection and monitoring (XIII); Sampling and analysis (XIV); Trade description (XV); Export procedures (XVI); Records (XVII); Appeals (XVIII).
Regulation 2 contains an extensive list of definitions. Regulation 3 delimits the application sphere of these Regulations. Regulation 7 prohibits growing or harvesting of products to which these Regulations apply in areas where there is a presence of pesticides, fungicides, or heavy metals. Part III concerns laboratories operated by the competent authority. Part IV, V, and VI regulate the operation of fish product export or processing establishments and factory or freezer vessels. Part VII regulates the harvesting and production of prescribed products, including operations on factory or freezer vessels. Part IX is concerned with residues of pesticides and heavy metals in fish products and the use of additives. (Completed by nine Schedules)
