Abstract
These Regulations introduce measures to control the spreading of fowl pest, including Newcastle Disease and Infectious Laryngotracheitis in Jamaica.
They impose a duty on every person having under his or her charge poultry affected with, or suspected to be affected with, such diseases to: (a) notify authorities; and (b) comply with a Notice declaring an Infected Place and related directions issued by an inspector appointed under the Animals (Diseases and Importation) Act. Owners or occupiers of any infected place shall isolate affected poultry and eggs and dispose of diseased animals and any dung, food, fodder or utensils that came into contact with affected poultry in accordance with these Regulations. No meat of any poultry slaughtered within an infected place shall be used for human consumption except in accordance with a permit of an inspector.
