Abstract
This Act provides rules for the manufacture and placing on the market of food and drugs, makes provision with respect to the administration of the provisions of this Act and defines offences.
“Drugs” includes veterinary medicines and substances used for the disinfection of food premises. “Food” includes any article used for food or drink by man and any ingredient that may be mixed with food or beverages for any purpose. Rules here prescribed concern, among other things, advertisement, packing and labelling, importation and hygienic conditions of manufacture, handling and sale of food and drugs. The Act provides for the appointment by the Minister of inspectors or analysts for purposes of this Act and defines powers and duties of such inspectors and analysts. The Minister may establish a Food Advisory Committee and a Drug Advisory Committee. The Act assigns ample regulation-making powers to the Minister.
