Abstract
This Act establishes the Jamaica Dairy Development Board, defines its functions and powers and provides for the licensing of production of and trade in dairy products. “Dairy products” are products wholly or mainly made of milk.
The Board shall be a body corporate and shall be responsible for the efficient development of the diary industry. In particular it shall, among other things, regulate the production, processing, packing etc. of and trade in dairy products, supervise and arbitrate contracts in the sector and advise the Minister on matters of policy.
The Act makes provision for the granting by the Board of a producer’s licence, a dealer’s licence or a vendor’s licence. A person aggrieved by a decision of the Board may appeal to the Minister. The Act further, among other things, provides for inspection and enforcement and defines offences and regulation-making powers of the Board.
