Abstract
This Act concerns infrastructure improvements at the local level and related matters.
The Minister may declare, by Order, special improvements (infrastructure) areas for purposes of this Act for lands intended for community development and subdivision for this purpose. Infrastructure shall include water supply and sewerage facilities. On land subject to an Order, no change to land tenancies shall be made. Upon the confirmation of an Order, the Minister may direct the compulsory acquisition by the Government of a leasehold interest in land in an area covered by an Order. Land may subsequentially be purchased by the Government. The Act sets out principles that shall apply to compulsory acquisition of a leasehold interest by the Government.
