Abstract
This Act provides for: establishing a statutory body for performing regulatory standards functions; regulating weighing and measuring devices for internal trade purposes; regulating processes and practices connected with the manufacture, production and treatment of commodities intended for sale in internal and foreign markets, for which a compulsory standard specification has been declared. The Act concerns: establishment and definition of functions of the National Compliance and Regulatory Authority and of its related offices; inspection of food commodities; ensuring the observation of standard specifications; issuance of certificates of registration to establishments engaged in the manufacturing and processing of any prescribed food, in compliance with the provisions of the National legislation; offences and penalties; establishment of the National Compliance and Regulatory Authority Appeal Tribunal; funds and resources of the Authority.
