Abstract
These Regulations, made under the Natural Resources Conservation Authority Act, stipulate rules relative to the transboundary movement of hazardous waste to and from Jamaica. The Regulations shall not apply to radioactive waste which is subject to international control systems.
The Natural Resources Conservation Authority may appoint inspectors for purposes of these Regulations. The Regulations define the powers of such inspectors. Export of hazardous waste requires a special export permit from the Authority. The Regulations set out conditions and procedure for the granting of a permit. Other matters regulated by these Regulations include: the notification of accidents; inward movement of waste and transit; return of water to origin in certain circumstances; measures of enforcement. The Schedules set out the categories of waste to be controlled or requiring special consideration, characteristics of hazardous waste, disposal operations and forms.
