Abstract
Regulations made under the Pesticides Act to regulate the importation of pesticides, the manufacture of pesticides and the selling of restricted pesticides, and to make provision for the registration of pesticides, and pest control operations, pest control applicators and servicemen, and some general issues. The 17 regulations are divided into the following paragraphs: Without title (1 and 2); Registration of pesticides (3-7); Importation of pesticides (8); Manufacture of pesticides (9-11); Selling of Restricted Pesticides (13); Pest control operation (14); Pest control applicator and serviceman (15); General (16 and 17).
Application for the registration shall be made in accordance with regulation 3 and form 1 of the First Schedule, a pesticide shall be registered in accordance with regulation 4 and Form 2 of the First Schedule. Pesticides may be registered for experimental purpose only. Regulations 5 to 7 concern suspension and cancellation of a registration and renewed registration. Regulation 8 concerns the licensing of importers of pesticides, whereas regulation 9 deals with the licensing of manufacturers of pesticides. Regulation 13 concerns licences for sellers of pesticides. A person whishing to operate as a pest control operator shall make an application for a licence to the Pesticides Control Authority in the form as set out in Form 9 of the First Schedule. An application for a certificate to operate as a pest control applicator or serviceman shall be in the form as set out in Form 11 of the First Schedule (reg. 15). Regulation 16 specifies the matters that shall be contained in the Register of Pesticides, the Register of Licences, the Register of Authorized Persons and Registered Premises and the Register of Pest Control Operators. The Second Schedule specifies licence fees.
