Abstract
This Act creates a Sugar Price Stabilization Fund, a Sugar Industry Capital Rehabilitation Fund, a Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund and a Sugar Workers Pensions Fund and requires exporters of sugar to pay part of proceeds of sale of sugar to Government of Jamaica. The Act also contains a provision that requires exporters to pay a “statutory deduction” on sugar covered by an insurance policy that is damaged, stolen or destroyed.
