Abstract
This Act provides for amending provisions of the Trade Marks Act, no. 25 of 2001. The amendments concern: insertion of new definitions, including: intellectual property, basic registration, international registration; insertion of new subparagraph regarding the traditional knowledge or traditional cultural expressions of indigenous or local communities; exemptions from trade mark registration; insertion of new section concerning international application procedure, in compliance with the provisions of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks; conduction of a preliminary search and advise in respect of the registrability of a trade mark.
