Regulation No. (4/G) of 2013 on vegetable seed varieties registration.

This Regulation is composed of 21 articles mainly on rules and procedures for seed varieties registration. Terms and definitions are given in articles 1 and 2. Article 3 prohibits the production or trade of vegetable seed varieties locally for commercial purposes or for private use unless registered in the Ministry of Agriculture. The application of registration of a variety should abide by conditions and requirements and only by specific institutions as stated in articles 4 and 5. Article 10 states that the Minister has the authority to allow or ban the import and trade of seed varieties. The Regulation lists cases in which the registration will be banned. It also provides for the terms and conditions for granting authorization of seed mobilization companies. Any violation to the provisions of this Regulation will be penalized according to articles 17 and 18 of the Agricultural Law No. 44 of 2002.
