Abstract
This Regulation is composed of 48 articles. Articles 1 and 2 deal with terms and definitions. Importers who obtained authorizations for the importation of living animals shall inform the Concerned Quarantine Centre one week before the date of arrival of the animals (art. 3). The import and export of animals to and from Jordan shall be carried out from declared crossing points (art. 4). Animal consignments shall be enclosed with a veterinary certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the country of origin (art. 5). Article 6 lists the information to be included in the veterinary certificate. Articles 8-13 deal with measures and procedures to be taken in case of the arrival of animal consignment by ship. Articles 14-16 deal with measures and procedures to be taken in case of the arrival of animal consignment by land. The expenses necessary for feeding, cleaning and taking care of the animals in the quarantine centre shall be at the animal’s owner expense (art. 19). Articles 31-35 define procedures and measures to be taken in case of exportation of animals. Articles 36-41 contain procedures and measures to be taken in case of animals in transit. Article 48 defines the fees, royalties and charges in exchange for the services offered by the Ministry of Agriculture.
