Abstract
This Risk Management Plan is a nationwide sectoral document aiming at (i) identifying and predicting the risks that are expected to occur; (ii) reducing any losses and mitigating their effects. The Food and Drug Administration's strategy is based on raising the level of food and drug control in line with scientific and global developments to achieve its targets. The Strategic Objectives of the Risk Management Strategy are as follows (1) Institutionalizing risk management by (i) providing the necessary budget for the Plan; (ii) spreading awareness of the importance of risk management; (iii) building a culture of risk management; (2) Forecasting risks and crises by (i) identifying potential risks; (ii) estimating the probability of their occurrence; (iii) studying the causes and effects thereof; (iv) estimating the cost necessary to avoid them and limit their effects; (3) Effectively and efficiently manage risks and crises by (i) building plans to face potential risks; (ii) defining tasks and responsibilities for risk management; (iii) training on mechanisms and best practices; (iv) building mechanisms for follow-up and evaluation in risk management and its implementation.
The Plan identifies 5 levels of risk, from very low to very high, marked with numbers from 1 to 5 and colors from white to red. To face the risks identified within this schedule, the JFDA's strategic goals are to (i) raise the quality of the services provided, ensure the application of standards of quality and excellence, and improve and develop institutional performance; (ii) contribute to achieving food and drug security and related materials; (iii) optimize the use of financial, human and property resources by strengthening the practices of transparency, accountability, and risk and crisis management; (iv) develop and improve trade procedures, business environment and competition under the Food, Drug, and Related Materials Control Reference Law. The sectors in which the risks are taken into account are (i) legal; (ii) media reputation; (iii) human resources; (iv) data; (v) financial; (vi) operational; (vii) public safety; (viii) disasters; (ix) crises.
