Risk Management Strategy and Implementation Plan (2015 - 2019).

This document represents the Risk Management Strategy of the Water Authority which main purpose is to present best practices in management and planning to avoid risks and threats and reduce their impacts in order to create a safe working environment. It is therefore a sectoral document valid for the whole territory of the Kingdom. The Strategy classifies risks based on an assessment model that illustrates the relationship between the likelihood and severity of a hazard. Main goal of the Strategy is to put in place procedures and solutions applicable to face all the risks and threats that limit its ability to provide services and achieve its strategic goals, and to remain fully prepared to carry out its tasks in all natural or emergency conditions.
In the Implementation Plan section, the document in a grid analyzes 10 types of risk, providing (i) the description; (ii) the signals that indicate its occurring; (iii) reasons for the risk; (iv) risk assessment; (v) intervention tools; and (vi) responsibility for action and follow-up. The 10 risk areas treated are the following (1) water; (2) sanitation; (3) financial aspects; (4) fires; (5) power cut; (6) administration/human resources; (7) informatics and knowledge; (8) natural disasters and wars; (9) information and awareness; and (10) legislation.
The main measures taken into consideration with regard to safeguarding water resources deal with (i) pollution of the water supply system; (ii) abnormal number of servers increased; (iii) assault on a water source; (iv) high rates of water loss; (vi) interruption of water supply; (vi) Jordan not obtaining its regional rights to water; (vii) damage (faults) in water networks, transmission lines and pumping stations; (viii) lack of used water (freshwater) in the process of mixing drinking water; (ix) analyzes fail; (x) sewer pumping stations problems; and (xi) problems with water purification stations.
