System for Crafts, Traditional and Folk Industries and Trade No. 3 of 2026, issued pursuant to paragraph (b) of Article 3 and Article 23 of the Tourism Law No. 20 of 1988.

This Regulation, comprising 15 articles, covers traditional handicrafts and artisanal activities, including handwoven carpets and rugs, embroidery, metal and glass forming, wood and metal carving and inlay work, stone and gemstone shaping, sand art, straw and seashell crafts, mosaics, leather and wood industries, pottery and ceramics, traditional textiles, folk musical instrument making, sword and dagger crafting, mother-of-pearl furniture, and the handmade production of candles, soaps, oils, and cosmetic products using natural and traditional methods. Article 3 specifies that traditional and folk industries must respect the authentic heritage character that reflects an element or elements of Jordanian identity with its various civilizational and cultural components. Article 4 provides for the establishment of a register within the Ministry to record practitioners of the profession, including artisans, craftsmen, and workshops, with the criteria and procedures for registration to be determined through instructions issued for this purpose. Article 5 includes among the trade activities online stores and traditional markets, and requires that e-commerce platforms selling handicrafts and traditional products be registered with a commercial purpose related to these goods. Article 9 requires professionals to label each product “Made in Jordan” with a brief explanation, display prices on all items for sale, and register all craftsmen and workers employed in their workshop in an official record. Articles 12 and 13 empower the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to support local communities in reviving traditional Jordanian crafts through training centers, courses, and permanent or seasonal exhibitions, as well as to monitor and inspect practitioners of the profession to ensure compliance with the law.
