Abstract
This Act provides for the prevention of the outbreak or spread of infectious diseases of domestic animals in order to promote the livestock industry.
Measures are established for the prevention of infectious diseases in domestic animals in Japan and an import and export quarantine system has been established to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases in domestic animals arising from the international distribution of animals and animal products. Certificates of import or export quarantine shall be issued to certify that the animals or animal products are not likely to spread pathogens of a monitored infectious disease. The Act further contains penal provisions and provisions of miscellaneous nature.
