Abstract
This Act aims at promoting the environmentally compatible use of energy sources and the effective utilization of fossil energy materials by energy supply businesses. The Act recognizes the significant role that fossil fuels play in the energy supply sector and emphasizes the importance of reducing the environmental impact associated with energy supply activities. The Act is structured into several chapters, including general provisions, basic policies, measures for specific energy supply businesses, and penalties. The primary objective is to ensure a stable and appropriate energy supply while contributing to the healthy development of the national economy. It defines energy supply businesses to include electricity and heat supply providers, and fuel product suppliers. The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry shall formulate and publish a basic policy on promoting the environmentally friendly use of energy sources and the efficient use of fossil energy materials by energy supply businesses. Key responsibilities are placed on energy supply businesses to adhere to the basic policies established by the government, focusing on environmentally compatible energy source utilization and the effective use of fossil fuels. The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry is empowered to assess the environmental compatibility of energy sources used by specific energy supply businesses and can issue recommendations or orders for necessary measures if their practices are deemed insufficient.
