Abstract
This Act on the Quality Control of Fertilizer aims to maintain agricultural productivity and protect consumers by ensuring the quality, safety, and fair trade of fertilizers in Japan. It defines fertilizer types, sets official specifications, and requires manufacturers and importers to register their products and accurately guarantee nutrient contents. The Act also prescribes procedures for registration, provisional registration, testing, labeling, and renewal, ensuring fertilizers do not harm plants, animals, or human health.
The Act further regulates production, importation, storage, and labeling obligations, including mandatory guarantee labels, sample testing, public notices, and monitoring by authorities. It establishes rules for modifying or cancelling registrations when safety concerns arise.
