Abstract
These Guidelines are developed for the purpose of ensuring the safety of food and the effectiveness of antimicrobial feed additives in livestock production, and to formulate toxicity management measures based on scientific knowledge on the reduction of toxicity.
The Guidelines address data used for decision making on risk management measures, decision on formulating the risk management measures, and implementation of the the risk management measures, etc. The Guidelines provide a structured approach to risk management, starting with a thorough evaluation of the necessity of designating specific antimicrobial feed additives based on their effects and usage. If the need for designation is deemed low, cancellation of the designation is considered. Subsequent stages involve assessing the risk classification determined by the Food Safety Commission and implementing corresponding risk management measures. High-risk classifications typically lead to designation cancellation, while low-risk classifications may allow for continued monitoring.
