Abstract
The feed additive designation in Japan is granted by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries through consultations with the Agricultural Materials Council, under the policy of a substantial necessity, only to those substances that are in high-demand and have been proved to be apparently effective and safe.
This handbook explains the procedures and points of caution in preparing the required documents (especially the abstract) for the deliberations on a feed additive by the Agricultural Materials Council in reference to the process for a feed additive designation.
