Abstract
This Act provides for the development and management of ports and harbours and for the development and maintenance of waterways.
The Act provides for the mode of establishing a port authority, defines its organization and its functions.
The Act further provides for: finances of the port authority; local public bodies to be become Port Management Bodies; regulations governing permission for construction work in the ports; financial management of ports; port charges; sharing of expenses for development between port authorities and other institutions; subsidies for expenses; penalties; etc.
