Abstract
These Rules concern various aspects of the production, placing on the market and exportation of horticultural produce. “Horticultural produce” is defined by the Horticultural Crops Development Authority Order, 1995. These Rules shall be in addition to and not in derogation of the Agricultural Produce (Export) (Horticultural Produce Inspection) Rules, the Agricultural Produce (Export) and other relevant Laws of Kenya.
The Rules concern, among other things: selection of uncontaminated sites for production, drafting of farm plans supported by environmental impact assessments, soil and water analysis of selected sites, storage and packing, hygiene in production and handling, traceability of products, residue analysis, storage of agro-chemicals, product inspection, observance of phytosanitary requirements and transportation.
