Abstract
This Order declares the crops of plants specified in the Schedule to this Order to be special crops (oilseeds/oilcrops) for purposes of the Agriculture Act. The crops are divided into “category A” and “category B” crops. Category B includes various crops of non-oligenous plants such as grapes, rice, cocoa and tea. Section 190 of the Act grants power to the Minister, where (s)he is satisfied that the development of a particular crop which is grown in Kenya for the purpose generally of sale should be promoted or fostered, to declare that crop to be a special crop.
