Abstract
These Rules introduce measures that may be taken against the spreading of foot and mouth disease. If a veterinary officer or a veterinary inspector has reason to believe that foot and mouth disease exists on premises in a district, he or she shall take immediately all (quarantine) measures prescribed by these Rules and notify the Director of Veterinary Services. The movement of stock may be severely restricted in infected areas and all public stock sales shall be cancelled. The veterinary officer or veterinary inspector may issue a permit for the movement of a limited number of animals for slaughter.
