Abstract
These Regulations are made in accordance with section 40 of the Crops Act, 2013, with the purpose to guide the development, promotion, and regulation of scheduled nuts and oil crops for the benefit of the growers and other stakeholders in the nuts and oil crops industry. Specifically, the Regulations aim to provide for the production, harvesting, processing and marketing of nuts and oil crops; promotion of best practices in the sub sector; registration and licensing of all players along the value chain; the recommendation of general industry agreements or contracts; the development and enforcement of quality and safety standards for compliance; the collection, collation, maintenance and management of statistical data related to the sub sector; the imposition and administration of levies; and the regulation of the sub sector. The Regulations provide extensively for the registration and licensing of small growers associations, plantation growers, importers and exporters, etc. It further provides for the inspection of production and manufacturing facilities and the sampling and testing of produce.
