Abstract
The main object and purpose of this Act is to provide for licensing of alcoholic drinks by the County government, in compliance with the Constitutional provisions, in order to; control the production, sale, distribution, promotion and use of alcoholic drinks and the promotion of research, treatment and rehabilitation for persons dependent on alcoholic drinks, and thus protect public health and the consumers of alcoholic drinks from misleading or deceptive inducements and inform them of the risks of excessive consumption of alcoholic drinks; adopt and implement effective measures to eliminate illicit trade in alcohol, ensure fair trade and ethical business practices. The Act concerns the following matters: establishment of the Embu County Alcoholic Drinks Control Board; licensing and authorisation provisions; general requirements regarding procedures for vending and placing on the market alcoholic drinks; sale and consumption; adulterated products; advertising and promotion; compliance measures.
