Embu County Environment Management Act, no. 16 of 2015.

This Act provides for: creating the necessary institutional framework required to have an efficient waste management, to control and reduce air pollution, noise pollution and ensure clean and healthy ambient air, to reduce waste and disease causing pests; promoting an environmentally friendly county that will reduce health risks associated with a polluted environment; encouraging residents to take responsibility for the environment. The Act concerns: establishment of a Department of environmental management; ensuring and protecting the right to live in a clean and healthy environment; waste management; categorisation and handling of waste, including agricultural and organic waste, hazardous waste, biomedical waste, plastic waste; licence to transport waste; private and public involvement in waste management; zoning for a convenient management of waste collection and transportation; control of air pollution; permitted and prohibited operations; prevention of public nuisances; prohibition of noise pollution; enforcement measures.
