Abstract
This Act amends the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act, 1999 with respect to a wide variety of matters including: access any information that relates to the implementation of this Act; administration; duties of the National Environment Management Authority; constitution a County Environment Committee in every County; Equal opportunities for persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups; and (b) that not more than two-thirds of the members are of the same gender; composition, functions etc. of County Environment Committees; the National Environmental Complaints Committee; the adoption of a National Environmental Action Plan; county environment plans; purpose of environmental action plans; monitoring compliance with the national and county environmental action plans; liability for pollution; Strategic Environmental Assessment (new section 57A); air quality, noise and radiation standards; transactions involving environmental resource requiring Parliamentary ratification (also regarding exploitation of wildlife resources and habitats; resources of gazetted forests, water resources, resources community land) (new section 124A); county legislation; effect of existing laws; projects requiring submission Assessment Study report (Second Schedule).
