The Kajulu Hills Catchment Protection Area Order, Legal Notice no. 105 of 2023.

This Order, made by the Water resources Authority in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 22 of the Water Act, no. 43 of 2016, provides for declaring The Kajulu Hills Catchment Area, with its water resources, as a protected area and therefore apply to the National Government, national government entities, County Governments, county government entities and any other person being a user of water resources and the riparian reserve of the declared protected area. The Order defines: water resources users association registered by the Authority; the feeder rivers flowing into Lake Victoria; the boundaries of the protected area; the management and conservation plan developed by the Authority in respect of the protected area; the riparian reserve; soil and water conservation plan; offences and penalties. The Order includes an attached Kajulu Hills Catchment Management Plan, whose overall goals are: ensuring sustainable management and use of water resources within the sub-catchment while promoting equitable sharing of water resources; ensuring the conservation of the catchment areas to improve on the water quality and quantity. The Plan concerns measures for protection, conservation and rehabilitation of the Kajulu Hills Catchment protected area.
