Abstract
This Kenya Energy Transition & Investment Plan represents Kenya’s commitment to champion the fight against climate change, by providing a clear pathway for the energy sector to contribute to the attainment of Kenya’s climate ambition of Net Zero emissions by 2050 with opportunities for financing and investment. The Plan identifies main decarbonisation technologies that will promote an orderly transition, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, e-mobility, energy storage. The Plan identifies the following objectives: implementing an energy transition agenda that will attract investment, while at the same time ensuring a just transition and fully supporting Kenya’s rapid economic growth trajectory; assessment of decarbonisation technologies impact, effectiveness and feasibility; highlighting uncertainties and risks of the processes. The Plan is based on: environmental sustainability; minimisation of energy costs; analysis of economic and occupational impacts.
