Abstract
This Sector Plan moves from the consideration that tourism sector in Kenya continues to play an important role in the country’s economic development, poverty reduction and increasing employment. The Sector Plan focuses on the following matters related to tourism: increasing domestic tourism; attracting investments in the accommodation facilities; strengthening port infrastructure, railways and roads; reducing electricity costs and water supply deficiencies; improving waste management; maximising tourism benefits without comprising the sustainability of the sector; protecting diverse cultural heritage products; cross cutting issues, such as: public private partnership, environmental consideration, wildlife and ecosystem protection, reduction of human wildlife conflicts.
