Kenya’s Second Nationally Determined Contribution (2031–2035).

This Kenya’s Second Nationally Determined Contribution (2031–2035) lays out the country's plans to tackle climate change while boosting economic resilience. The focus of the Plan is on renewable energy, especially geothermal, hydro, wind, solar, and biomass, in order to catalyse economic resilience and sustainable economic growth through bold and ambitious climate actions. This Contribution is structured as follows: national circumstances, macro-economics, impacts of climate change, future climate scenarios, emissions and transition, legal policy and institutional framework; the Nationally Determined Contribution process; the Nationally Determined Contribution ambition, including: mitigation, adaptation and loss and damage; monitoring, reporting and verification of adaptation and mitigation actions; fairness in the ambition; planning process; means of implementation. Concerning the development and the ambition process, this Contribution focuses on: promotion of low-carbon transport, green industrialisation, afforestation, and climate-smart agriculture, integration of gender-responsive approaches, improvement of ecosystem management, strengthening disaster risk management, rehabilitation of degraded land.
