Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to ensure the sustainable management of Kwale County forests, which shall include community forests and private forests within the County, by ensuring biological diversity, enhanced productivity, regeneration and resilience capacities; vitality and posterity of forests.
The Act establishes a County Forest Division to ensure the sustainable management of forests through supervision in all matters relating to forest policy and legislation, formulating policy for the conservation of forests, preparation of guidelines for regulation of trading, licensing and benefit sharing in respect to forestry resources, etc. The Act further establishes the Kwale County Forest Conservation Committee to carry out certain advisory functions and carry out annual reports on the status of County forests.
