Abstract
This Act provides for the administration and control of meat and connected establishments. The Act provides for the County Public Service Board to recruit a county director, veterinary officers, meat inspectors and other county officers and employees for the purpose of implementing the Act. It extensively provides for the specific duties of the respective officers for the purpose of the Act.
An abattoir is only to be operated subject to a certificate of approval granted under the Act; the part goes further to specify how to apply for the certificate and other connected matters. In the same vein, meat processing establishments shall only be maintained subject to registration and licensing. To further protect consumers, the Act provides that a person who has been exposed to any infectious diseases or suffering from same should not engage in the slaughter, handling or conveyance of animals. The Act also contains extensive provisions regarding the safe transportation of meat.
