Abstract
This Act makes provision for the licensing of the dredging in lakes or rivers specified in the First Schedule to this Act and the licensing of motor vessels to be used on such lakes or rivers. The Minister may, by Notice in the Gazette, add lakes or rivers to those specified in the First Schedule and may define the extent of any lake or river to which this Act shall apply. Large-scale removal from the bed or banks of a river or lake of any mud, ooze, gravel, rock, stone, soil, clay, mineral or precious stones requires a licence to be issued by the Minister. The master of every steam vessel on a lake or river shall apply for a licence for the vessel. Licences shall be in the form in the Second Schedule and shall be granted by such officer as the Minister may appoint. The Minister may make Rules relative to navigation on rivers and lakes, the transport of floating timber, the protecting the bird or animal life on or in a lake or river and other matters specified in this Act.
