Abstract
This Act provides for the management of public markets and stalls. In managing public markets and stalls, the responsible Director shall, among other things, designate public markets and stalls, develop market rules, issue guidelines for the establishment of market committees and for the formation of market committees, and ensure a clean and safe environment for public market and stalls. There shall be a market master for every public market. No person shall sell goods other than at designated public markets and stalls. Causing nuisance or sale of contaminated food in a public market or stall shall be prohibited. The Act sets out the procedure in respect of contaminated food. No livestock other than poultry shall be brought into any public market other than a livestock yard.
