Management Plan for Dik Dik Gardens Wetland.

This Management Plan, made by the Kenya Water Resources Authority, provides for analysing the current situation of the catchment area of Dik Dik Gardens Wetland, taking into consideration vulnerability of its water resources and defining measures for conservation and rehabilitation of the area. Particularly, the Management Plan considers the catchment area as a vital component in water resource management, and therefore it defines measures and actions for its protection from encroachment and pollution and for its sustainable management and maintenance of ecological integrity. The Management Plan concerns: raising awareness among local communities on the need to protect the wetland; current land use in the area; quality of water resources; control of exotic species of trees that may endanger the catchment area; prohibited activities in the area, including: clearing of vegetation, disposal of any form of waste, soil excavation, planting of exotic and invasive species; measures to protect the area, including: undertaking cadastral survey of the area; placing signs and notices to warn the public of the boundaries of the protected area; planting and growing of propagated seedlings; monitoring the area.
