Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 170 (2) of the Mining Act, 2016, apply to any person who intends to provide a mine support service for any period of more than six months and for a contract sum of a value of more than fifty million shillings in aggregate. The Regulations define the following relevant terms: cadastre, as an online repository and information management tool established for the purposes of regulating the issuance of licences and permits of mineral rights; licence; mine support services contract. Matters covered by these Regulations include: application for a licence to provide mine support services; processing of applications; issuance of a licence; procedural matters concerning licences; records and reporting activity; content of a contract for mine support service; environmental obligations of mine support services providers; mineral exploration rights; offences and penalties.
