National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights for the implementation of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, 2020-2025.

This National Action Plan, elaborated on the basis of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, consists in a comprehensive strategy for protecting against human rights abuses by private and public business, considering that the increasing foreign investment in the domestic private sector may adversely affect workers rights, communities and the environment. This Action Plan details priority areas that the Government will focus on in the next five years: land and natural resources; labour rights; revenue transparency; environmental protection; access to remedy. The Action Plan concerns the following key challenges: air, noise, land and water pollution; use of toxic and hazardous substances in the industrial sector; protection of the right to a clean and healthy environment; land rights granting for indigenous people and management of land and natural resources; tax justice and regulation of financial issues of companies; fight against corruption; adoption of environmental impact assessments in business decision making; climate change obligations of private companies; discharge of effluent into waterways; disposal of solid waste into the environment; loss of biodiversity due to destruction of natural environment for commercial purposes; access to clean and safe water; respect of labour rights and labour-related guarantees; administrative and judicial sanctions, and non-judicial remedies.
