Abstract
This Strategic Plan concerns all matters relating to drought risk management and provides for establishing mechanisms to end drought emergencies in Kenya. The Vision of the Strategic Plan is a nation resilient to drought and related climate shocks; its mission aims at leading and coordinating drought risk management and climate change adaptation towards achieving resilient communities in Kenya. The Strategic Plan focuses on resilience building, early warning systems, effective response mechanisms, and institutional capacity development, in order to position Kenya as a leader in drought risk management, while safeguarding vulnerable communities against climate shocks. The Strategic Plan identifies key result areas and related strategic objectives: strengthening community resilience to drought and climate change risks; mitigating drought impact on vulnerable communities and support recovery; providing reliable drought information for action; strengthening planning and knowledge management; strengthening coordination and support policy development; strengthening service delivery and increasing capacity building of human resources.
