Abstract
This Act introduces various measures to control rabies affecting cats and dogs.
The main objective of the Act is to control stray dogs and cats. The Director of Veterinary Services may declare, by notice in the Gazette, any area to be a rabies control area for the purposes of this Act. Specified public officers may detain any stray dogs and cats in a rabies control area. The Act specifies various measures that the Director of Veterinary Services may take in case of outbreak or suspected outbreak of rabies. The Minister may make Rules for better carrying into effect the purposes of this Act.
