Abstract
This Act, divided into eight parts, provides for licensing and controlling the production, sale, distribution and promotion of alcoholic drinks and for promoting research and programmes for the rehabilitation of persons dependant on alcohol. Thus, the Act concerns: protection of people's health from dangerous and negative impacts of alcohol; protection of consumers of alcoholic drinks from misleading or deceptive inducements; protection of the health of persons under the age of eighteen, by preventing their access to alcoholic drinks; adoption of effective measures to eliminate illicit trade in alcohol including smuggling and illicit manufacturing; ensuring fair and ethical business practices in alcohol production and distribution. Matters covered by this Act include: establishment of authorities and specification of powers and tasks; establishment of the alcoholic drinks control fund; licensing of alcoholic drinks; measures concerning sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks; advertisement and promotion; enforcement measures.
