Sector Plan for Oil and Other Mineral Resources.

This Sector Plan provides a roadmap for implementing the provisions of the Third Medium Term Plan of Kenya Vision 2030 concerning oil and other mineral resources. The Sector Plan outlines programmes and projects to enhance exploitation, development and management of mineral resources and the associated value chain activities, in order to improve employment creation, increased export earnings, alleviation of poverty and climate change adaptation and mitigation measures linked to mineral exploitation. The Sector Plan priorities programmes for strengthening and making more competitive the extractive industry, and increasing contribution to the national development and the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Plan focuses on the following activities: commercialisation of oil and natural gas; construction of pipelines; enhancement of refined petroleum products storage capacity; establishment of geological data bank; geological mapping, mineral exploration and evaluation.
