Tana River County Agriculture Development Act, 2016 (No. 18 of 2016).

This Act provides with respect to agricultural activities within the County of Tana River. "Agriculture" includes, among other things, aquaculture, fish harvesting within the meaning of the Fisheries Act, use of land for agro-forestry, and transgenic and microbial formulations for use and application in agricultural systems. The object and purpose of this Act is to facilitate the growth and development of agriculture and veterinary services in the county, and in particular to — (a) establish the Authority; (b) promote of the production, processing, marketing, and distribution of agricultural products in the county; (c) promote competitiveness in the agricultural sector and to develop diversified crop and animal products and market outlets; and (d) attract and promote private investment in agriculture.
The Act establishes the Tana River Agriculture Development Authority as a body corporate and defines its functions. It also establishes the Agricultural Development Fund and the County Agricultural Development Fund Board of Trustees.
