Tharaka Nithi County Climate Change Fund Act, 2019 (No. 4 of 2019).

This Act creates a Fund in the County to provide for finance for climate change programs and the enhancement of climate finance mechanisms, among others. The Act establishes a Board as a legal personality with the charge to compile approved projects, ensure equitable allocation of money available in the Fund, oversee the execution of the finance budget, mobilize funds for climate change finance, etc. It provides that the money in the Fund shall be used to finance priority climate change projects, programs and activities including those required in the Climate Change Act. The Act further provides for the eligibility criteria for the disbursement of money in the Fund, including activities that promotes climate resilience in the locality, activities that support economic growth through low carbon climate resilient development, to benefit large number of people including vulnerable groups and have clear considerations for gender representation, etc.
